Pressure Temperature Relief Valve

PRESSURE TEMPERATURE RELIEF (PTR) VALVE is a device connected to a water heater which prevents its bursting when pressure builds up by releasing water/steam through the PTR valve. Normally it must be piped to an outdoor location, but under Oakland's live/work code it is permitted to be piped to a floor drain or other location if approved by the building official.
