Line-of-sight Visual Access

LINE-OF-SIGHT VISUAL ACCESS is necessary in order for the special class of Emergency Escape and Rescue openings to be permissible in live/work. The opening must have such direct line-of-sight visual access–which means that the sleeping area can be seen from the opening–to the sleeping area (or areas) which it serves. A sleeping area is permitted in a mezzanine or loft as long as its railing (not over 42") can be seen from the emergency Escape and Rescue Opening.
