Floor Load

FLOOR LOAD Floor load is expressed in the code as two main types, live load and dead load. Live load is the amount of weight that people, furniture, etc. might place on the floor. Dead load is the actual weight of the floor or building itself. Live and dead loads together make up total load. Live/work has particular floor loading values which are slightly higher than true for residential to accommodate work use, but not so high as to make projects unfeasible. Work/live values are higher. See Table 330-B in the live/work code.
